BracketProof 2027 March Madness Model

Our 2027 NCAA Tournament bracket publishes on Selection Sunday, March 14, 2027. The same model that called 11 of 13 national champions across a 13-year leave-one-out backtest, averaging 1386 ESPN points, will generate the 2027 picks.

What to expect

A full 63-game bracket with every pick justified by the model, a champion confidence reading, and game-by-game odds. The 2027 engine inherits the architecture that scored1400 ESPN points in 2026 (Michigan champion call) and averaged 1386 over the full backtest window.

The core engine is a multi-model ensemble — XGBoost for the champion classifier, with Random Forest and LightGBM for key first-round matchup types — combined with matchup-specific routing and a market-consensus cross-check. Features are drawn from KenPom efficiency metrics and updated through Selection Sunday.

The NCAA is expanding March Madness to 76 teams for 2027. Our model is being extended for the new Opening Round format — 75 games instead of 63.
